Prior.Run vs. Lyssna: Quick Reactions or the Whole Page

Lyssna tells you what people noticed first. Prior.Run tells you what's broken and what to change.

— COMPARISON · 05

Lyssna and Prior.Run both help you check a design before it ships. They answer different questions.

Lyssna sends short tests to real people: what they remember after five seconds, where they click first, which of two designs they like. Prior.Run runs the whole page or flow and hands back a Run Sheet — every problem pinned to the spot, with the change to make.

Time to an answer

A Run is back in under an hour. Lyssna's panel is often fast too.

✓
✓

No testers to recruit

Paste a link and go. Lyssna uses your own users or its paid panel.

✓
~

Every button and form tried

A Run uses the whole working page. Quick tests show a picture or one task.

✓
✗

The fix, not just the problem

Each finding comes with the change to make. Lyssna gives you the answers to work it out.

✓
✗

Prototypes and live pages

Both test Figma prototypes and live sites.

✓
✓

First impressions and design votes

Five-second and preference tests are Lyssna's job.

✗
✓

Surveys, card sorts, tree tests

Lyssna covers early research methods a Run does not.

— Pick by the question you need answered, not by the tool.

What Lyssna does well

Fast reactions from real people. If you want to know whether visitors get your headline in five seconds, or which of two hero images they prefer, Lyssna is built for it. Its own panel can return answers the same day.

It also covers early research: card sorts, tree tests and surveys, for when you are still deciding how the site should be laid out.

Where a quick test stops

A five-second test shows a picture, not a working page. Nobody types in the ZIP code field, opens the size guide or tries the promo code box, so nobody finds out that the ZIP code field wipes the form.

A preference test tells you which design people liked. It doesn't tell you what is wrong with the one they didn't pick, or what to change in either.

What a Run does

Our panel opens your page on desktop or a phone and uses all of it: every button, every tab, every form, down the main path and then the others. It fills forms with test details and stops before anything that costs money.

In under an hour you get a Run Sheet. Each finding sits on the spot where it happened, sorted from fix first to keep, with why it matters and the change to make. Open the page and check any of it in seconds.

— VERDICT

Use each for its own question

If you need first impressions or a vote between two designs from real people, use Lyssna. If you need to know what is broken or confusing on the page and what to change, run it.

Many teams do both: run the page, fix what it finds, then use Lyssna to check that the first impression lands.
